Brockville City Emergency Control Group has issued a Cautionary Notice:
- Parkedale Ave around California is currently blocked with numerous downed power lines and poles. Citizens are urged to avoid this area. Most stores in the affected region have been evacuated and shut down.
- Hydro One estimates that 150-160,000 homes are without power in the region.
- Please exercise extra caution: Tree limbs that haven’t already been knocked down may have been weakened by strong winds. Keep your eyes and ears open, and proceed with caution.
- Keep an eye on the weather forecast.

The Leeds and Grenville Small Business Enterprise Centre is once again putting out the call for young entrepreneurs.
They are now accepting applications for the Summer Company program.
Up for grabs is 15 hundred dollars to start your business, hands on training and support, the chance to be your own boss and if you’re successful, another 15 hundred dollars at the end of the summer.

Will Brockville Council face off over face-offs?
Hockey will be on their mind tonight as they vote to officially endorse the city’s entry in the competition to be named CBC’s Hockeyville.
17-year-old student Matthew Blair is listed as a delegation to talk about it as well.
Still with ice, council will also talk about funding for the youth arena rehabilitation.
The meeting starts at seven o’clock.
From an eyewitness account, three snowmobilers are extremely lucky this morning.
A listener from Charleston Lake tells us he saw them on the water when the ice was only an inch-and-a-half thick.
People shouldn’t even walk on ice unless it’s four inches thick and clear.
The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority issued a thin ice warning last week.
Brockville and its police association could be on the way to filing for arbitration.
It depends on how a meeting this morning goes at the Quality Hotel Royal Brock over a contract for 2010 to 2012.
If they don’t reach a deal, both sides are eligible to take the matter to the province.
The city is already waiting on an arbitration ruling on the firefighters for the 2011 budget.
