So…I’m off on mat leave.  I know!  Who saw that coming?  None of my friends or family (and probably even you) believed it would ever happen as you may have heard me at some point in my life talk about not ever wanting screaming, crying, whining, messy, poopy kids.  Well, my fantastic husband somehow gently, subtly convinced me that having a screaming, crying, poopy kid would be a great idea.  So now here we are, the day has come that I’m gigantic after a good 38 weeks of being mostly nauseous and in pain…and I’m off!!  On maternity leave.  It still sounds funny to me and when I see the huge belly in the mirror and I wonder “who in their right mind would…oh ya, that’s me”.  Then she kicks me in the guts and I giggle.  (Yes, we’ve been told it’s a girl and so most everything we now own is pink – so here’s hoping those three separate ultrasound technicians were right!)

My “due date” is December 15^th, but I’m off as of today, I guess to get ready (and sleep as many new moms have insisted).  I thought I would share the good news and tell you I’ll be back in a year…if I make it out of the poopy diapers alive.
